Ponomariov - Anand 1/2. A nice draw in the Marshall Ruy Lopez.
Shirov - Kasparov 0-1. Sveshnikov Sicilian. Better is 15. c3 or 17. exf5.

Anand - Adams 1/2. Michael applied the novelty 26...Qc6 (26...Qd5? was in Kasparov-Adams, round 5).
Kasparov - Ponomariov 1-0. French Defence. Garry sacrificed a pawn for development advantage. Better are 19. Rd2 and 20...Bd7.
Vallejo Pons - Shirov 1-0. Black had some edge in the Sicilian.

Adams - Kasparov 1/2. Scheveningen Sicilian
Ivanchuk - Anand 1/2. Interesting manoeuvres in the Catalan System.
Ponomariov - Vallejo Pons 1-0. Paulsen Sicilian. Ruslan grabbed a pawn. Better is 17...Bxe3 or 18...Rab8.

Kasparov - Ivanchuk 1/2. Garry had a small edge in the Paulsen Sicilian.
Shirov - Ponomariov 1/2. Queen's Gambit Accepted.
Vallejo Pons - Adams 1/2. Francisco had space advantage in the English. Better was 36. Rc2.

Round 10, March 6
Adams - Shirov 1-0. Sicilian 3. Bb5. Better is 18...f6 or 19...f6.
Anand - Kasparov 1/2. Complicated game in the Najdorf Sicilian. After risky 22. 0-0-0 Black could obtain better chances with 23...bxc2. Also interesting is 26. Bc5.
Ivanchuk - Vallejo Pons 1-0. White had a clear edge in the Paulsen Sicilian and won in 23 moves after knight's sacrifice.

Round 9, March 4
Ponomariov - Adams 1-0. Marshall Attack in the Spanish (Ruy Lopez). Dubious was 23...Bb4? and after 24. Re5! White obtained an edge.
Shirov - Ivanchuk 1-0. Black played very good in the Spanish, however then made errors and lost.
Vallejo Pons - Anand 1/2. A quick draw in the English Opening.

Round 8, March 3
Kasparov - Vallejo Pons 1-0. White had an edge in the Sicilian, but then position became unclear.
Anand - Shirov 1-0. Black had compensation for a pawn, but made a mistake 19...Bxe3?. Better was 19...Bxc6.
Ivanchuk - Ponomariov 1/2. An easy draw in the Queen's Gambit Accepted.

Anand - Ponomariov 1/2. An equal game in the Sicilian.
Ivanchuk - Adams 1-0. Double-edged game in the Ruy Lopez. Better is 15...Nd4 or 16...h6.

Kasparov - Adams 1-0. Petrov Defence. Garry sacrificed the exchange and took the initiative in the ending. More precise is 31...Nb3.
Vallejo Pons - Ponomariov 1/2. English. A long endgame.

Adams - Vallejo Pons 1/2. Berlin Defence in the Ruy Lopez again. Interesting is 20. Rfd1.
