1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nc3 e6 4. Nf3 dxc4 5. e3 b5 6. a4 Bb4 7. Bd2 Bb7 8. b3 a5

9. Ne4
A rare continuation. Usually White plays 9. bxc4 or 9. axb5.
9...f5 10. Nc5!
A novelty. Black had a huge advantage in Kasparian, G - Kirillov, V, USSR-ch, Moscow 1931 after 9. Ne4? f5 10. Neg5 c3 11. Nxe6 Qe7 12. Nf4 cxd2+ 13. Nxd2 Nf6.
10...c3!

11. Nxb7 Qe7 12. Nc5 e5!
A counterblow in the centre.
13. Be2 e4

14. O-O!
Alexander Morozevich sacrifices his knight.
14...exf3 15. Bxf3 cxd2 16. axb5 Nf6 17. bxc6

17...Ra7?
The decisive error. Black can keep the important d2-pawn with 17...Na6! 18. Nxa6 (18. c7 Nxc7 19. Bxa8 Nxa8 20. Qc2 O-O) 18...Rxa6 19. Qc2 Ra8 20. Qxf5 O-O 21. Rfd1 Qd6, with counterchances.
18. Nd3 O-O 19. Nxb4 Qxb4 20. Qc2 Na6?!
20...Rc7 is better.
21. Qxf5 Nc7 22. Qc2

22...Rb8
Now White has a clear edge. He grabs the d2-pawn.
23. Rfd1 Nfd5 24. e4 Nc3 25. Rxd2 N7b5 26. Rc1 a4 27. bxa4 Rxa4 28. Bg4?!
28. d5 is correct.

28...Qe7?!
Losing at once. Black could try 28...Qc4! 29. h3 (29. d5 Rba8) 29...Rba8 30. d5 Nxe4 31. Qxc4 Rxc4 32. Rxc4 Nxd2 33. Rc1 Kf8.
