The Canadian Championship 2001. The Playoff match between Kevin Spraggett and Alexandre Lesiege took place in Brantford, Ontario (Canada) 13-16 September.

Two of North America's elite Grandmasters, Alexandre Lesiege
and Kevin Spraggett are set to do battle in a showcase match for the title of Canadian
Champion and the right to journey down the $3,000,000 World Chess Championship road.
The two Grandmasters earned their entry into the match play final when they
demolished the field scoring 8 points out of 9 each in the August Canadian
Championship. In that event, they each surrendered only one draw to others and drew
their individual encounter.
