Schipkov, B. (2355) - Mann, G. (2300) [A81]
Kecskemet 1991

Notes by Boris Schipkov

1. d4 f5 2. g3 Nf6 3. Bg2 c6 4. Nh3 d6 5. Nc3 g6
Better is 5... d5 leading to the Stonewall.
6. d5 e5
Or 6...Bg7 7. Nf4 with some initiative.
7. dxe6 Bxe6 8. e4 fxe4 9. Ng5?!
Better is 9.Bg5.
9...Qe7?!
If 9... Bf5 then 10. Ncxe4 d5 11. Nxf6+ Qxf6 12. O-O Be7 13. Be3 Qd6 (13... O-O? 14. Bxd5+! cxd5 15. Qxd5+ winning) 14. Bf4 Qd7 15. c4 with a small edge to White. But 9...Bg4 is better.
10. Ncxe4 Nxe4 11. Nxe4 Bh3 12. Bg5 Qe6 13. Bxh3 Qxe4+ 14. Qe2 Qxe2+ 15. Kxe2
White has a small but lasting advantage thanks to two bishops.

15...Bg7
More precise is 15...Be7.
16. Bc8!
Weaker is 16. Rhe1 O-O 17. c3 Na6.
16...Nd7
Or 16... a6 17. Bxb7 Ra7 18. Bc8 Kf7 19. Bh3 Bxb2 20. Rab1 Bf6 21. Be3 Re7 22. Rhd1 with a clear edge to White.
17. Bxb7 Rb8 18. Bxc6 Rxb2
Also hopeless is 18... Rb6 19. Ba4.
19. Kd3
Black resigned. 1-0
